India’s Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) industry is rapidly emerging as a significant pillar of economic growth. Projected to reach an impressive USD 103.7 billion by 2030, the sector is poised to generate large-scale employment, attract global investments, and solidify India’s position on the international business tourism map.
This ambitious trajectory was spotlighted during the “Meet in India Conclave 2025”, held in Jaipur alongside the 14th Great Indian Travel Bazaar. Union Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat emphasized the transformative potential of the MICE sector in job creation, infrastructure development, and positioning India as a go-to destination for global business events.
In 2024 alone, the MICE industry generated USD 49.4 billion, and with continued strategic investments, this figure is expected to more than double by the end of the decade. Major contributors to this growth include enhanced international connectivity, modern convention infrastructure, and the government’s strong push to decentralize MICE activities to emerging destinations.
Cities like Khajuraho and Varanasi, traditionally known for their cultural richness, are being upgraded to accommodate world-class MICE events. Meanwhile, Jaipur, with its blend of heritage and modernity, is evolving into a key MICE hub. Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari highlighted the state’s readiness to host major global events with upgraded facilities and infrastructure.
Beyond urban development, the MICE sector also promises regional upliftment by creating demand in hospitality, transport, retail, and other service sectors. Importantly, the government is aligning MICE growth with sustainable tourism practices, promoting eco-friendly event planning and emphasizing India’s rich cultural experiences as an added value for global delegates.
India’s goal is not just economic expansion but also global competitiveness, aiming to rival traditional MICE giants like Singapore and Dubai. By enhancing digital event capabilities, fostering international partnerships, and investing in skilled manpower, India is preparing to lead the next wave of global business tourism.
As we move toward 2030, India’s MICE industry stands at the cusp of a new era—one marked by innovation, inclusivity, and global ambition.
