Vietnam is strengthening its international tourism promotion strategy with a new partnership between the Viet Nam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) and VFS Global, aimed at positioning the country as a preferred destination across key source markets, including India.

The two organisations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Hanoi on 6 August 2026, establishing a framework for coordinated destination promotion and tourism market development. The partnership comes as Vietnam looks to accelerate international visitor growth and expand its presence in high-potential markets.

Under the agreement, Vietnam’s destinations, tourism experiences and travel opportunities will be promoted through VFS Global’s extensive network of customer touchpoints. These include Visa Application Centres, digital platforms, information counters, communication channels and digital displays across priority markets.

The partnership will extend beyond destination advertising. VNAT and VFS Global will collaborate on destination presentation programmes, participation in international tourism fairs, business networking initiatives and engagement with travel trade partners, tourism stakeholders and strategic customers.

India Emerges as a Key Market

India is emerging as an important source market for Vietnam, supported by strong growth in outbound travel. According to figures shared by VNAT, Vietnam welcomed approximately 750,000 Indian travellers in 2025, while around 490,000 Indian visitors travelled to Vietnam during the first six months of 2026.

With Indian outbound tourism continuing to expand, the partnership provides Vietnam with an additional channel to engage directly with potential travellers and the wider Indian travel trade ecosystem.

Vietnam is targeting 25–27 million international visitors in 2026, following a record performance in 2025 when the country welcomed more than 21 million international tourists for the first time. Looking further ahead, the country aims to attract 45–50 million international visitors annually by 2030.

For VFS Global, the partnership also reflects the company’s expanding role beyond visa services. Its Tourism Services division brings experience in destination marketing, market development, trade engagement and tourism promotion, having supported more than 27 destinations globally over 16 years.

The collaboration comes at a time when destinations are increasingly looking beyond traditional advertising to build stronger connections with travellers and travel trade partners. By combining VNAT’s destination expertise with VFS Global’s international network, Vietnam aims to increase destination visibility, strengthen market engagement and attract more international visitors, with India positioned as one of its key growth markets.
