Southern Spain’s Andalucía has recorded a historic tourism surge, driven by strong arrivals from the United Kingdom, Germany, United States and France. Spain welcomed nearly 96.8 million international tourists in 2025, with Andalucía contributing significantly to this milestone. The region attracted approximately 37.9 million visitors, generating over €30 billion in tourism revenue and reinforcing its position as one of Europe’s most dynamic travel destinations.
A key driver behind this growth has been enhanced air connectivity through Málaga–Costa del Sol Airport, which handled around 26.8 million passengers during the year. Major carriers including Ryanair, easyJet and British Airways expanded routes and seat capacity to Málaga, strengthening access from key European and transatlantic markets and boosting inbound leisure demand.
The surge has positively impacted hotels, employment and allied tourism sectors across the region. With improved infrastructure, diversified offerings and sustained international interest, industry observers believe Andalucía’s transformation into a year-round tourism powerhouse is firmly underway, signaling that Spain’s southern travel boom may continue to gather momentum in the coming years.
