The Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI) has extended its full support to Kashmir’s tourism industry, reaffirming that the Valley remains a safe and welcoming destination for travellers. At a press conference held in Srinagar, TAFI National President Ajay Prakash stated that the delegation’s visit was aimed at sending a clear message across the country: Kashmir is open for tourism.
“All our chapter chairmen and committee members from across India are here to show solidarity. Tourism is Kashmir’s backbone, and we are here to support it fully,” Prakash said. He highlighted that there is no other place like Kashmir in terms of natural beauty and hospitality.
The visit comes in the wake of a recent terror attack in Pahalgam, which had led to concerns and a drop in tourist numbers. Acknowledging the fear the incident caused, Prakash emphasized the importance of countering negative perceptions and reaffirming the region’s readiness to host visitors.
TAFI is also engaging with airlines and hotel groups to ensure travel and stay remain affordable, a move aimed at regaining momentum in tourist inflow. “We’re working to restore the tourism boom Kashmir had been witnessing,” he added.
Rejecting any calls for boycotting the region, Prakash termed such suggestions as “foolish” and reaffirmed TAFI’s commitment to stand by Kashmir.
In a symbolic gesture, TAFI members will include the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism logo along with slogans like “Dil Se Kashmir” and “Jannat Phir Khuli Hai” in their email signatures to promote the region nationwide.
During their visit, the TAFI delegation also interacted with local hoteliers, travel operators, and tourism officials, expressing optimism that Kashmir’s hospitality and scenic charm will soon bring back tourists from across the country.
