The Tourism and Hospitality Skill Council (THSC) recently co-hosted the “Development of Tourism & Hospitality Education – Karnataka Chapter” event at the Tripurasundri Palace Grounds in Bengaluru, in collaboration with the Association of Hospitality Professionals & Women in India (AHPWI) and industry experts. The gathering emphasized forging future-ready education models and building a skilled workforce to drive growth in India’s expanding tourism and hospitality sectors.
In an impactful keynote address, THSC CEO Rajan Bahadur underscored the critical urgency to modernize vocational training and align curricula with evolving industry needs. He stressed that demand for practical, technology-infused learning—covering areas like digital guest services, sustainable operations, and modern culinary arts—is increasing as the sector grows post-pandemic.
The Karnataka chapter gathering featured interactive panel discussions, strategic networking, and collaboration dialogues aimed at integrating academia, training institutions, and hospitality businesses. The goal: create pathways that seamlessly link academic learning with real-world employment, ensuring students are “industry-ready” upon graduation.
The event also highlighted THSC’s ongoing mission—establishing a robust skill-development ecosystem for sub-sectors including hotels, tour operators, restaurants, and cruise liners. With support from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), THSC continues to bridge skills gaps via vocational education, national qualification frameworks, and targeted industry placements.
This Karnataka initiative marks a significant milestone in THSC’s nationwide strategy, reinforcing partnerships like AHPWI and setting a blueprint for other states to replicate. The collaborations and insights generated at Bengaluru will help shape tomorrow’s talent, preparing students and professionals for successful futures in tourism and hospitality.
