The Butterfly Gardens Abu Dhabi has officially announced the launch of the capital’s first immersive butterfly sanctuary, set to open in September 2025. The announcement was made during Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025, the region’s leading global travel and tourism exhibition.

Situated next to The National Aquarium at Al Qana, the Butterfly Gardens will provide visitors with a fully immersive, nature-inspired experience, adding a vibrant new dimension to Abu Dhabi’s tourism offerings.

Housing over 10,000 butterflies, the attraction will feature lush tropical environments within climate-controlled bio-domes that replicate diverse ecosystems from around the world. The sanctuary will be divided into two themed zones—Asia and the Americas—each showcasing region-specific species. In the Americas dome, guests can encounter two-toed sloths, caiman crocodiles, and native insects, while the Asian dome will feature bearcats, koi carp, and a variety of Asian insects. As visitors journey through the gardens, they will be surrounded by free-flying butterflies, offering a deeply engaging and sensory-rich experience.

Paul Hamilton, General Manager of The Butterfly Gardens Abu Dhabi, shared, “Our mission with the Butterfly Gardens is to recreate authentic natural habitats that support the well-being of these delicate creatures. More than just an attraction, it’s a living nature reserve designed to foster awareness about the delicate balance of our ecosystems. We want visitors to connect with nature in a way that is both meaningful and memorable.”

Blending education, conservation, and entertainment, The Butterfly Gardens Abu Dhabi is poised to become a must-visit destination for families, students, and nature lovers alike, offering a rare opportunity to explore one of nature’s most enchanting ecosystems up close.
