Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has announced the signing of Taj Dharamshala, a brownfield luxury hotel project in Himachal Pradesh, further strengthening its presence in one of India’s fastest-growing leisure and spiritual tourism destinations. The development also offers potential for future expansion and underscores IHCL’s continued focus on enhancing its luxury footprint across key travel markets.

Commenting on the signing, Suma Venkatesh, Executive Vice President – Real Estate & Development, IHCL, highlighted Dharamshala’s growing appeal among travellers. She noted that the destination’s spiritual significance, coupled with rising tourism demand, continues to attract a diverse mix of visitors. She also emphasized IHCL’s commitment to responsible destination development and expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Atman Resort and Cottages LLP for the project.

The upcoming 105-key Taj Dharamshala will offer panoramic views of the valley and the snow-capped Dhauladhar range. A key feature of the project is the restoration of the property’s heritage wing, historically known as White Haven Estate, which served as the Viceroy’s summer residence in the late 1800s. Designed to reflect the character and charm of the surrounding hills, the hotel will blend heritage preservation with contemporary luxury.

Guests will have access to a range of hospitality and wellness offerings, including an all-day dining restaurant, two specialty restaurants, a bar, and a lobby lounge. The property will also feature an indoor temperature-controlled swimming pool, a fitness centre, and the signature J Wellness Circle Spa. For meetings, conferences, and social events, the hotel will offer a banquet hall, terrace venue, pre-function spaces, and dedicated meeting rooms.

Sahil Sharma, Sadhna Sharma, and Mrinal Sneh Singh, Partners at Atman Resort and Cottages LLP, said the partnership with IHCL will help revive the heritage property while contributing to tourism growth and creating opportunities for the local community.

With this signing, IHCL’s portfolio in Himachal Pradesh expands to 27 hotels, comprising 15 operational properties and 12 under development, reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to India’s leading leisure destinations.
