Jaipur is set to emerge as a major centre for international tourism diplomacy as India prepares to host the 2nd BRICS Tourism Working Group (TWG) Meeting on 19-20 August 2026, followed by the BRICS Tourism Ministers’ Meeting on 21-22 August 2026. Both high-level gatherings will take place in Rajasthan’s capital city under India’s BRICS 2026 Chairship.

The announcement follows the successful convening of the inaugural BRICS 2026 Tourism Working Group Meeting, which was held virtually on 25 May 2026 and chaired by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. The meeting marked the beginning of a year-long tourism cooperation programme under India’s leadership of the BRICS bloc.

India’s BRICS 2026 Chairship is being guided by the overarching theme, “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability.” During the first virtual meeting, member nations discussed a shared roadmap for tourism collaboration, while India outlined four key priorities that will shape discussions throughout the year: Artificial Intelligence and Tourism, Sustainability and Responsible Tourism, Tourism Skilling and Capacity Building, and Tourism Exchanges and Seamless Travel Facilitation.

The upcoming meetings in Jaipur are expected to provide a substantive platform for BRICS nations to deepen partnerships, exchange best practices and advance collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening tourism ecosystems across member countries. Senior government representatives, tourism policymakers and industry stakeholders from BRICS nations are expected to participate in the deliberations.

BRICS today comprises eleven major emerging economies, Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and Indonesia, making it one of the most influential platforms for cooperation among developing and emerging economies.

With Jaipur set to host both the Working Group and Ministers’ meetings, India is expected to leverage its chairship to promote innovation-driven, sustainable and people-centric tourism strategies while reinforcing tourism as a key pillar of economic growth, cultural exchange and international cooperation. The August meetings are anticipated to play a significant role in shaping the future direction of tourism collaboration among BRICS nations.
