In a strategic move to strengthen tourist arrivals from India, Thomas Cook (India) Limited and its group company SOTC Travel have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA). The partnership is aimed at enhancing the island nation’s visibility and driving travel demand from one of its most important source markets.

The agreement brings together key stakeholders from both sides, with senior leadership from Thomas Cook India, SOTC Travel, and the Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority formalising the collaboration. The initiative is designed to showcase Mauritius as a diverse destination that goes beyond its well-known beaches and lagoons, highlighting its rich Creole heritage, cultural traditions, cuisine, and festivals.

Mauritius continues to attract Indian travellers due to its cultural connections with India, visa-free access, relatively short flight durations, and a wide range of accommodation options, from premium resorts to value-driven properties. The destination is popular across segments including honeymoons, multi-generational families, young travellers, and leisure tourists.

In addition to leisure travel, Mauritius is increasingly positioning itself as a strong destination for MICE and corporate travel. The island offers world-class convention facilities, luxury resorts with integrated meeting infrastructure, and distinctive team-building experiences set against scenic natural backdrops.

Under the partnership, the organisations will undertake a multi-pronged strategy focusing on destination education, product development, and marketing communications. The initiative aims to position Mauritius as a top-of-mind destination not only in India’s major metros but also in emerging Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.

By leveraging Thomas Cook India’s omnichannel distribution network and SOTC’s extensive reach, the collaboration is expected to accelerate demand across leisure, MICE, and corporate travel segments, further strengthening tourism ties between India and Mauritius.
