Thailand has joined forces with India, China, South Korea, and Kazakhstan in a groundbreaking regional alliance aimed at revolutionizing the MICE landscape. This coalition seeks to leverage the collective strengths of these nations to foster innovation, accelerate infrastructure development, and position Asia as a global epicentre for business events.
Representatives from the five countries convened under the auspices of the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) to define a shared roadmap for sustainable MICE expansion. The initiative places a strong emphasis on cutting-edge technology integration including AI-driven registration systems, hybrid-meeting platforms, and immersive event experiences while also prioritizing eco-friendly venues and seamless transportation options to enhance attendee satisfaction
Infrastructure commitment lies at the alliance’s heart. Thailand’s state of the art convention centres in Bangkok and Chiang Mai are slated for major technological overhauls. China and South Korea will follow suit, equipping venues with 5G-enabled connectivity and virtual reality event spaces. Kazakhstan will bridge the logistics gap by improving regional access through expanded flight routes, upgraded conference facilities, and hotel incentives tailored to international planners.
This cross-border collaboration is designed to generate far-reaching economic benefits by tapping into the previously untapped synergy among member nations. Planners in Europe, North America, and the Middle East are expected to take notice, redirecting event traffic toward Asia. Moreover, the partnership enhances diplomatic ties, with trade and tourism officials from each country working jointly to integrate policy frameworks, ease visa requirements, and promote co-branded events.
The alliance will start rolling out joint marketing campaigns later this year, spotlighting mega-events planned across member countries. Shared bids for international conventions, co-hosted site inspections, and combined participation at global trade fairs are already in discussion. With ambitions set on achieving “unstoppable growth” and “world-class infrastructure,” this MICE collaboration aims to elevate the entire region’s competitiveness in the global events market .
