The Regional Office (West & Central) of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, in collaboration with the Adventure Tour Operators Association of India (ATOAI), will organise a four-day Adventure Guide Training Programme and National Seminar in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, from 17 to 20 March 2026.
The initiative aims to strengthen safety standards, enhance professional capacity and promote strategic collaboration across India’s rapidly expanding adventure tourism ecosystem. By equipping adventure tourism professionals with advanced safety skills and enabling policy discussions among industry leaders, the programme seeks to accelerate the sustainable and responsible growth of adventure tourism in the country.
Adventure Guide Training Programme (17-19 March)
The training programme is supported by the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB) and the Madhya Pradesh Eco Tourism Board (MPEDB). Over the first three days, participants will undergo intensive training designed for professionals engaged in outdoor adventure activities such as trekking, mountaineering and water-based adventure sports.
The programme will focus on wilderness medical response, emergency preparedness and risk management, enabling participants to respond effectively in critical situations in remote and high-risk environments.
The course will be conducted by VIVO Healthcare and EKO India, two organisations recognised for their expertise in safety training and outdoor leadership education.
VIVO Healthcare, a leading provider of simulation-based medical training in India, will deliver modules on First Aid, CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) specifically tailored for wilderness and remote-area scenarios. The training will use immersive, hands-on methodologies to prepare participants to manage life-threatening emergencies until professional medical assistance arrives.
EKO India will conduct sessions on risk management and operational safety in natural environments, including modules on risk mitigation strategies, wildlife awareness, snake rescue techniques, bird identification and managing human-wildlife interactions in accordance with global safety standards.
Upon successful completion of the programme, participants will gain practical expertise in trauma assessment, wilderness medical response, evacuation planning and safety protocol implementation, enabling them to act as trained first responders and responsible leaders in adventure tourism operations.
Adventure Tourism Seminar (20 March)
The programme will conclude on 20 March with a half-day Adventure Tourism Seminar themed “Adventure Strategy for a New Era.”
The seminar will bring together tour operators, adventure clubs, training organisations, policymakers and industry experts to discuss the future of adventure tourism in India and identify strategic pathways for sustainable sector growth.
Key discussion areas will include:
Strengthening safety frameworks and risk mitigation protocols in adventure tourism
Governance models and regulatory frameworks for adventure activities
Alignment with international safety and operational standards
Leveraging technology and AI to enhance tourism experiences
Policy support, investment opportunities and destination development
The seminar will also feature a high-level panel discussion involving industry leaders and government representatives to foster dialogue between policymakers and the private sector.

The event is expected to attract around 100 participants, including ATOAI member operators, adventure clubs, training institutes, eco-tourism stakeholders and hospitality partners.
Representatives from the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, and Madhya Pradesh Eco Tourism Board will also participate in the programme.
