Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) has once again cemented its position as a premier business event venue, securing Bronze at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards for Best Business Event Venue in Australia. The awards recognize excellence across all tourism sectors, celebrating outstanding contributions in attractions, accommodation, food tourism, and events.
Victorian Minister for Tourism, Sport, and Major Events, Steve Dimopoulos, commended MCEC for its achievement, emphasizing its vital role in Victoria’s booming visitor economy. “Business events contribute significantly to our tourism sector, and this award is a testament to MCEC’s dedication in delivering world-class experiences,” he stated.
MCEC’s Chief Executive, Natalie O’Brien AM, expressed her pride in receiving this national recognition. “Being acknowledged as one of Australia’s leading business event venues is an honor. MCEC’s prime location in Melbourne’s CBD, sustainable initiatives, cutting-edge technology, and expert team make it the ideal venue for impactful events,” she said. “This award reflects our commitment to creating exceptional experiences for visitors and clients.”
As Victoria’s Business Event Venue of the Year, MCEC competed against top venues across Australia. Over the past year, the iconic venue hosted 713 events, including the high-profile ASEAN-Australia Special Summit and the BBC Earth Experience, attracting 3.2 million visitors and generating an economic impact of $777 million.
