India reinforced its position in the global tourism landscape by strengthening strategic ties with Germany and Indonesia during ITB Berlin 2026, at Messe Berlin, Germany. As the world’s leading travel trade show, the platform enabled high-level engagements focused on expanding tourism cooperation and global connectivity.
Led by Union Minister of Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, India’s delegation included key stakeholders from the tourism and hospitality sectors, showcasing the country’s diverse offerings and growing global appeal.
A major highlight was a series of bilateral meetings with Germany and Indonesia, where discussions centred on boosting tourism flows, promoting sustainable travel, enhancing air connectivity, and strengthening cultural and people-to-people ties. These initiatives are expected to unlock new travel corridors and collaborative opportunities.
From a MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) perspective, these partnerships hold significant potential. Improved connectivity and stronger international relations can facilitate the growth of cross-border business events, international conferences, and incentive travel programmes. Germany, being a mature MICE market, and Indonesia, an emerging hub, present valuable opportunities for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and co-hosted events.
Additionally, India’s presence at ITB Berlin included destination promotions and cultural showcases, enhancing its global visibility and reinforcing its brand as a diverse and experience-rich destination.
The strengthened partnerships are expected to boost inbound tourism, attract international business events, and deepen industry collaboration. As global travel rebounds, India’s proactive engagement at ITB Berlin 2026 underscores its ambition to emerge as a leading destination for both leisure tourism and MICE activities.
