Uttar Pradesh is set to make a powerful debut at the 47th Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) Travel Mart, scheduled to take place in Bangkok, Thailand from September 8-10, 2025. The state will launch its new spiritual tourism campaign titled “Embark on Your Bodhi Yatra in Uttar Pradesh”, aiming to spotlight its unparalleled Buddhist heritage on a global stage.

The campaign will focus on six sacred Buddhist sites- Sarnath, Kapilvastu, Sankisa, Kaushambi, Shravasti, and Kushinagar– which together form a historic circuit of immense spiritual significance. These revered locations trace pivotal moments from Lord Buddha’s journey, making Uttar Pradesh one of the world’s most important destinations for Buddhist pilgrims and cultural travelers.

A key highlight of the promotion will be the Kushinagar International Airport, which has significantly enhanced accessibility for international visitors. With improved connectivity to Buddhist nations across Southeast Asia and beyond, the airport is expected to become a major gateway for global spiritual tourism. The state’s tourism department will emphasize how these infrastructural developments, coupled with upgraded hospitality services, are creating a seamless travel experience for international visitors.

By participating in PATA 2025, Uttar Pradesh aims to strengthen its image as a premier spiritual tourism hub, attract international tour operators, and foster stronger cultural exchanges. Tourism leaders from the state are expected to present investment opportunities, new travel itineraries, and partnerships to promote sustainable tourism while preserving the sanctity of heritage sites.

The participation also reflects the growing alignment of Uttar Pradesh with the global travel trend of experiential and meaningful tourism. As travelers increasingly seek journeys rooted in culture, spirituality, and wellness, the state is positioning itself to cater to this demand by blending ancient heritage with modern facilities.

With over 1,000 international buyers, sellers, and tourism professionals expected to attend the Bangkok mart, the Bodhi Yatra campaign is likely to gain significant international exposure. The initiative is designed not only to draw more tourists but also to empower local communities through job creation, cultural exchange, and enhanced global visibility.

As the countdown begins to PATA 2025, all eyes are on Uttar Pradesh as it prepares to unveil its Buddhist heritage to the world and strengthen India’s presence on the global spiritual tourism map.
