Paul Scurrah is a highly experienced executive who has been appointed by the Fiji Airways Group as its new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (MD & CEO), with effect from November 1, 2025. Following an extensive worldwide search, Group Chairman Mr. Nalin Patel made the announcement, which will help the national carrier enter its next stage of expansion. Mr. Scurrah brings more than twenty years of senior executive experience in the vital industries of tourism, logistics, transportation, and aviation.

His most recent position as CEO of Pacific National, the biggest private rail freight company in Australia, exemplifies his leadership track record by successfully spearheading a significant transformation centered on operational excellence and commercial sustainability.

Importantly, he was commended for his strategic leadership in protecting key routes and setting up the airline for recovery during his previous position as CEO of Virgin Australia, which allowed him to guide the country’s second-largest airline through the historic chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr. Patel underlined that Mr. Scurrah is the perfect leader for the airline’s future due to his demonstrated ability to transform cultures and provide outstanding value to stakeholders. Outgoing CEO Mr. Andre Viljoen will continue to serve on the Fiji Airways Board of Directors in order to facilitate a smooth transition and preserve institutional knowledge. The Board has confirmed that there is no conflict of interest in his new position at Air Mauritius because the two airlines are located in different regions. With this appointment, Fiji Airways is demonstrating its unwavering commitment to strategic growth, operational discipline, and preserving its position as the region’s top airline.
