Vikas Pansare (IAS) Takes Charge as Director, Maharashtra Tourism

The Government of Maharashtra has appointed Vikas Pansare, IAS, as the new Director of the Directorate of Tourism following a recent administrative reshuffle. He officially assumed charge at the Directorate of Tourism in Mumbai on 30 July 2026.

Before taking on this role, Pansare served as the Managing Director of the Maharashtra Small Scale Industries Development Corporation (MSSIDC), where he handled key administrative and developmental responsibilities. Throughout his career, he has held several important positions across various departments of the Maharashtra Government.

As the new Director of Tourism, Pansare will lead initiatives related to tourism policy implementation, destination promotion, infrastructure development, and strategic campaigns aimed at enhancing Maharashtra’s appeal as a premier travel destination. His extensive administrative experience is expected to further strengthen the state’s sustainable tourism growth.

Pansare succeeds Mangesh Joshi, IAS, who made significant contributions to Maharashtra’s tourism sector during his tenure by promoting tourism infrastructure, supporting destination marketing, and encouraging greater private sector participation, helping elevate the state’s presence in the domestic and international tourism landscape.
