Manali is witnessing a significant surge in tourism this season, with hotel occupancy levels reaching between 70% and 80%, signalling a strong revival in visitor demand. According to a report by Asian News International (ANI), the destination is experiencing renewed enthusiasm among both travellers and industry stakeholders, setting the stage for what could become a record-breaking season.
Local hotelier Chaman Kapoor noted that occupancy levels are expected to rise further through May and June, driven by favourable weather conditions and enhanced readiness across the tourism ecosystem. The presence of lingering snow in higher altitudes has added to the region’s appeal, drawing tourists seeking a mix of scenic beauty and pleasant climate.
To capitalise on the growing influx, hoteliers have introduced attractive offers and packages, while taxi and auto operators are gearing up to accommodate the increasing number of visitors, reflecting the hospitality ethos of “Atithi Devo Bhava.” This coordinated effort across sectors highlights a well-prepared tourism infrastructure aimed at delivering seamless visitor experiences.
Kapoor also reiterated the importance of reopening Rohtang Pass, a major tourist attraction that has remained restricted due to environmental concerns flagged by the National Green Tribunal. He emphasised that the operationalisation of the Atal Tunnel has significantly reduced traffic congestion in the region, strengthening the case for reopening the pass to tourists.
With rising occupancy rates, improved infrastructure, and coordinated efforts from stakeholders, Manali is poised to sustain this upward momentum. The coming months are expected to further boost tourism, reinforcing its status as one of India’s most sought-after hill destinations during the summer season.
