Dubai’s aviation authorities have accelerated recovery efforts after recent regional disruptions by operating more than 1,140 flights within 84 hours at Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC).The large-scale operation took place between 2 and 5 March 2026, as authorities worked to restore connectivity and assist passengers affected by earlier flight suspensions and airspace disruptions across parts of the Middle East. The coordinated response involved airport authorities, airlines, and aviation regulators, who worked together to gradually resume operations and facilitate travel for thousands of stranded passengers.
During this period, more than 500 outbound flights departed from Dubai, offering around 105,000 seats to travellers heading to over 80 countries worldwide. The surge in operations was aimed at clearing the backlog created by earlier cancellations and rerouted flights. Major UAE carriers such as Emirates, flydubai, and Etihad Airways resumed limited operations while prioritizing passengers whose journeys had previously been disrupted. Authorities confirmed that the number of flights operating from Dubai continues to increase as airlines gradually expand their schedules. The effort highlights the crucial role of Dubai as a global aviation hub connecting Asia, Europe, and other international destinations.
Dubai Airports has also issued guidance for travellers amid the evolving situation. Passengers are advised not to travel to DXB or DWC unless they have confirmed bookings or updated departure information from their airlines. Officials have urged travellers to regularly check flight status with their airlines before heading to the airport, as schedules may continue to change while operations stabilize. The recovery operation demonstrates the aviation sector’s rapid response to disruptions and its commitment to restoring global travel connectivity while ensuring passenger safety.
